Wooden dish, which rotates inside another metal plate on which there are 37 boxes, one for each of the first 36 numbers, alternating red and black, and one to zero.

The order in which the numbers in the plate has been determined by some simple rules:

• On each side of a number less than or equal to 18 there are two numbers greater than 18, with two exceptions: a) zero, b) right in front of it with 5 and 10
• The black numbers are those in which the reduction of the sum of its digits is even, minus the 10 (black) and 29 (black). Another exception is the 19 (red).
• Based on the plate in half, with an imaginary line between 0 and 5 in each half must have the same amount of numbers belonging to each of the 3 dozen (6 issues) and the same amount of numbers belonging to each of the 3 columns (6 issues).

• The red and black should be alternated.

Over time, the roulette was modernized, and today there are electronic or electromechanical, consisting of sensors that detect the exact position of the ball, sensors that detect the correct direction of rotation of the plate, sensors that detect the position reference or 0 (zero), and besides this, have a trigger with an electronic sensor more.
